The International Open Urban and Architectural Competition for the design of the ideal residence to accommodate the guests of Allah – The Holy City complex is primarily of a residential nature, intended for pilgrims from the entire world who carry out the holy duty Hajj, but also for tourists from the entire world who wish to become acquainted with and learn more about Islam, the culture, history and tradition of Saudi Arabia.

The competition task required the accommodation of 100,000 pilgrims in the area of 200,000 square meters.
The city plan of the Holy City complex is based on the idea that the main pedestrian direction is oriented towards Ka’ba. Also located in the direction is the large circular plateau (raised at the relative level of 5.5 m) with a Mosque. The point of departure of the city plan is to direct the visitor’s conscience towards the Islamic holy building, spiritually towards Ka’ba.
The following central urban activities are located in the Mosque’s closest radial zone:
Administrative Buildings, Police Building, Mass Transit Bus Terminus and Electric Train Underground Terminus, Tower (large water tank, exclusive roof-top restaurant and communications antenna), Park,  Hotel, Market, Residential Buildings, Villa Complex and Hajj Medical Centre.
The main emphasis was finding the type solution of the residential complex of objects (hotel type for the accommodation of a large number of people) and residential units (villas and apartments).

The architecture in the context, profoundly inspired by the spirit of Saudi Arabia, lays emphasis in this master plan on the respect of tradition, but also on the contemporary and cosmopolitan interpretation of ancient symbols.

The members of the Riyadh Jury rewarded this work with “honorable mention prize” by characterizing it as one of the student works whose solution is more convincing and more mature than the professional category.
